We went down to Mount Pleasant for a weeks stay in a Cabin on the Mountain with Scott Richards and his Wife and two of his youngest chidren.
While we were down there we went over the mountain to Hunnington North reservoir for some Largemouth action and found that there wasen't a lot of fish in there, But we did catch some nice ones. The Bass caught were from 12-1/2" to 17" we caught some fish on Grubs, and wacky rigged salt sticks. The best success was with the new five inch Maniac minnow rigged on a 1/4 oz weedless round lead head fished with a slow retrieve.
on July fifth we wen't to Yuba and fished the early morning with jerk baits, cranks and jigs for Walleye with no takers. About 10:00 am I tied the new five inch Maniac Minnow on my Bait caster and on the third cast hooked a big Northern Pike tha would of went about tweny pounds, I had it up to the boat but Scott couldn't get the fish in the net and it went for another run and broke my line.
Scott soon tied on the Minnow and in just a few minutes was hooked up with another big Pike about the same size as the one that I had lost, after what seemed to be a long battle the Pike came un buttoned. Minutes later Scott was hooked up again and landed a pike that was 8lbs. soon after that he nailed a thirteen poun pike.
The pike seemed to shut off late in the morning so we started catching pearch on 1-1/2" cut'r Bugs on a 1/8 oz round head.
There is plenty of perch to be caught at Yuba and they are getting bigger.
